Inside Malin Akerman's Destination Wedding

It may be the time of year where engagement announcements come up every other day, but in the celebrity world it’s wedding season. Swedish-born actress Malin Akerman and British actor Jack Donnelly are the latest to get hitched, having wed in an intimate destination ceremony in Tulum, Mexico. One of Malin’s most famous roles was as Katherine Heigl’s sister in the romantic comedy 27 Dresses, but the bride wore a very different gown than the A-line spaghetti strap number in the film. Malin instead donned a slinky pink dress with off-the-shoulder detailing and a thigh-high slit. 

Fellow British actor Con O’Neill presided over the vow exchange, which was held on the beach with a lovely view of the ocean. Michelle Monaghan was also in attendance and posted a sweet photo of the newlyweds, where she referred to the bride as her “bestie.” Actress/musician/comedian Kate Micucci of the musical-comedy duo Garfunkel and Oates was also one of the beloved guests, as well as actress Carla Gugino and singer Rob Thomas.

In addition to the natural beauty of the beach, the ceremony was decorated with trendy pampas grass and a crocheted backdrop adorned with oversized dream catchers. Malin’s bouquet included more pampas grass, greenery, and roses in lavender and purple hues. Her husband matched the relaxed aesthetic, donning a navy vest and trousers that were hiked up to the knee – the better to walk through the sand.
