As much as we love the look of a classic white or ivory bridal gown worn in the Western world, we would be remiss to not acknowledge the beautiful wedding ensembles from other cultures. In particular, we have featured many stunning celebrations from couples with Indian and/or South Asian heritages. The saris and lehengas worn by these brides feature vivid colors and intricate metallic embellishments.

Just as with Western wedding dresses, the designs range from the traditional looks the mother of the bride might have worn at her own wedding to more daring, modern styles. Given that weddings from this region span three days, brides have the opportunity to wear several showstopping outfits.

If you are a bride of South Asian descent, or you are marrying into a family of this culture, we hope you find inspiration in the photos below – all from real weddings. Click each photo to see more of the ceremony and reception décor.
