Though round and emerald-cut diamonds will always be seen as classic and traditional, some shapes find themselves embraced in different time periods. Right now, we are seeing the pear-shaped diamond have a bit of a moment, and it’s easy to see why. The teardrop shape elongates fingers and looks equally graceful set as a solitaire, with a halo, or with side stones.

The standard way to way a pear-shaped diamond is with the point facing inward, towards you; however, some brides prefer the look of the pointed end of the diamond to face outward toward the fingertips. Either method is beautiful, but the pointed-out style should be avoided by those who frequently work with their hands, as the end can easily catch on things.

Below are our favorite engagement rings featuring pear-shaped diamonds – set in a variety of styles, all worn by real brides. Click each photo to see what kind of wedding they had after being proposed to with these stunning rings.
