Alex Alexander, owner of Alex Events, has more than 12 years of experience in the event production business. With a background in film and theatre, she approaches every wedding as though she is producing a romantic movie unique to each bride and groom. Based in southern California, she designs events throughout the state and across the country. Learn more about Alex in our Q&A below, followed by examples of her beautiful work as featured in Inside Weddings magazine.

How old were you when you began your profession? "In my 30s I planned events as well as destination management, but then I really started to focus on weddings. I love love love the creative elements involved with designing weddings. I also adore the celebration of love and relationships! I have hundreds of photos of my couples kissing at the conclusions of their ceremonies. What a wonderful testament to my business and my life!"

What's the most eccentric request you've ever received from a bride? "I am sure taken out of context, some of the things I have provided and/or created for brides and grooms would seem out of the ordinary, but then each couple is unique, so nothing really seems odd to me. I have provided camels and bicycles and water ski boats and more for weddings. But each request seems wholly appropriate for each client."

What’s your favorite aspect of a wedding? "The relationships that are made between my clients and me. These partnerships are what enable me to design and create a wedding that reflects the hopes and dreams of each bride and groom. The wedding day is truly one of the biggest days in a couple’s life. Making sure it not only fulfills all of their wishes, but also to be there overseeing every little detail so they can relax and enjoy the day, is such an honor."

What other industry would you be in if not this one? "I am not sure I have another industry in mind. I really love what I do and the amazingly creative and talented people with whom I get to work. I find that designing and coordinating weddings fulfills me and I only hope I have many more years of doing what I love."

Which famous wedding in history would you have most liked to work on and why? "I think the wedding of Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier would have been wonderful to design! I love all things French anyway, and Grace Kelly was such a beautiful and spirited woman that I am sure it would have been fun! The idea of a royal wedding with an american bride would have made it a challenge to give her the wedding of her desires while also holding true to the customs and requirements of a prince. The clothes, flowers, linens, and grandeur of the event would have been just amazing to play with!"
