Just like weddings have gotten more extravagant as time goes on, bachelorette parties have gone from local barhopping or a goofy night at home to weekend-long excursions. Of course, not everyone goes to that extreme. Just as people still tie the knot at city hall or host backyard receptions, plenty of women choose to celebrate the end of their single life with a more subdued fête. However, there is no denying that destination bachelorette parties have become increasingly popular. Las Vegas remains a favored choice, but just about any major city or tourist spot can find brides partying with their closest gal pals. Some even go abroad for the festivities. If you’re still considering what kind of celebration to have, read below for the pros and cons of a destination bachelorette party.

Pros:

- Getting to experience a new place. This is a fairly simple one. For most people, traveling is more enjoyable than simply going out for a night on the town where you already live.

- It’s easier to forget about your wedding stress. Fully removing yourself from your normal environment allows you to put your brain on pause and not worry about the logistics of the big day.

- An even playing field for a spread-out bridal party. Nowadays it’s more common for people to have friends who live all over the country, if not the world. Choosing one central location can make it easier for everyone to get together.

Cons:

- It may be a hardship for your friends. Destination bachelorette parties not only cost a significant amount of money, but also a lot of time. You’re more likely to have some of your nearest and dearest not be able to make the trip.

- Difficult to organize. Coordinating travel for you and your significant other is hard enough, but with a decent-sized group with different schedules, possibly coming from different locations, it can be a real hassle.

- Other bachelorette parties are more likely to be around. If you choose a popular destination, you may find other groups of ladies at the same places you go for the festivities. Not only may this keep your celebration from feeling personal and unique, but you’re also less likely to score free drinks and other perks if you’re the fifth bachelorette party the bar has seen that night.
