As guests stepped into this Moroccan-themed engagement party – crafted by Kristin Banta and her team at Kristin Banta Events – they were transported worlds away from Los Angeles. The opulent, seaside hotel selected for the event offered a diverse layout that allowed the team to design the lively, vibrant party they conceptualized.

Moroccan performers ushered attendees into the engagement party, where servers offering signature cocktails greeted them. Henna designs were projected on the brushed gold dance floor in the center of the space. Additional drinks were dispensed at the adjacent custom bar with a bullion geometric stand against azure fabric, as well as a sangria bar at the other end of the room. A collection of Moroccan-style lanterns was suspended above the DJ to create “visual drama and intrigue,” notes Kristin.

Sumptuous draping in rich gold and burgundy was fastened with teal tiebacks at the entrances of numerous intimate lounges set about the ballroom. Plush sofas with ivory-and-buttercream stripes invited attendees to sit and chat, and throw pillows added pops of color. Loved ones enjoyed views of the Pacific Ocean from wooden daybeds set up on the sunny colonnade terrace that featured fuchsia and turquoise cushions paired with bright throw pillows.

A foyer was decorated with a bullion vase filled with peacock plumes amidst the glow of a sundry of lanterns. Florals in brilliant magenta, amber, and violet tones – including orchids, chrysanthemums, dahlias, roses, and calla lilies – brimmed from a variety of textured and faceted gilded vases. These arrangements were highlighted with groupings of ornate lanterns and votive candles.

In addition to dancing, guests were treated to eclectic entertainment throughout the evening such as acrobats and belly dancers, one of which performed with a snake. “Elaborate spectacles included a variety of Cirque-du-Soleil-style Moroccan performers doing balancing acts and contortion,” adds Kristin. In fact, the balconies of the lower ballroom made magnificent stages for some of the acts. Even the attendant at a tea cart with an umbrella frame holding colorful glasses in lime, hot pink, and mango hues delighted awaiting partygoers with his pouring process.
